Motorcycle Repair: h-d exhaust, harley 883 sportster, e mail address

I own a 2003 harley 883 sportster hugger. (my wife gaveit to me) I want to make my own set of y pipes. I want them to be very short, so they will be loud (the louder the better).  Would this be O.K. for the engine?  Do you know if any company makes a short set of y pipes? when I do fabricate these pipes, is that gurgling sound ok when I let off the gas and coast to a stop? I need to start at the flange exiting the exaust port-what do you call that flange and small piece of axaust pipe? Where could I get this flange and fisrt piece of exaust pipe to build of of?  Thanks much,
