Motorcycle Repair: Goldwing fork seal repair procedure, fork seal, fork oil

Question
Chris,  I have a 84 1200 Goldwing Aspencade (not an SE-i). I want to replace the fork seals. The book has you taking the whole fork off the bike. I think it would be possible to do this by lifting the bike and taking the slider off and not moving the rest of the fork assy since the seals are in the slider. I can still get to the springs from the top and remove them without having to take the fairing off. Is this possible?

Answer
Hi Larry.
To be honest, I am not certain.  Read through the proceedures and see what you need to do to drain the fork oil out properly.  If it requires inversion of the fork, then I am afraid that removal will be required.  If it doesn't, then give it a try and see how it works for you.

If you end up having to remove the fork anyway, at least you will know for sure if it can be done that way or not.

Good luck.
