Motorcycle Repair: YAMAHA YZF750R LOOSES POWER, electric fuel pump, combustion processes

Question
i'VE GOT A 97 YAMAHA YZF750R 10K MILES . WHEN I HIT ABOUT 7000 TO 1100 RPM (UNDERLOAD) THERE IS NO POWER, THE IDLE AND ACCELERATION FROM 500 TO 7000 IS OK AND 11000 UP SEEMS OK, I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS PROBABLY A POWER BAND ,BUT IT SEEMS TO GET WORSE,I  PUT NEW PLUGS AND CLEANED AIR FILTER, COULD IT BE THE CARBS OR IGNITON? IF SO WHAT CAN I DO OR REPLACE?
THANKS FOR ANY INFO
TONY
OHH CAN I ALSO PUT A INLINE FUEL FILTER FOR IT, ITS GOT CARBS BUT HAS A ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK?

Answer
Hi Tony,

I had the same MC new in 1997. It is an awesome MC. Mine pulled strong throughout the throttle ranges.

You can install an inline fuel filter. Be sure it will allow sufficient fuel to flow.

It's hard to say what the problem may be. I would have to see the old spark plugs to determine what is occurring inside the combustion processes.

Can you advise on any modification to the MC? How about past service history? Have the valves been adjusted? Carbs synchronized or cleaned?

Respectfully,
