Motorcycle Repair: removing the seat on a 1985 Honda CB450 Nighthawk, honda cb450, rust remover

Question
Hi, I may seem like an idiot, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove the seat from a 1985 Honda CB450 Nighthawk.  I was recently given this bike for free.  It's been in someone's garage (unridden) for 8 years, it's rusted, and I'm restoring it mostly to learn how to work on bikes.  But I can't figure out how to get the seat off to work on everything underneath, so who knows how long this is gonna take me.  The seat seems to have a plastic frame, which looks like it hooks under a piece of metal attached to the bike's frame.  This makes me think I slide it back, but that doesn't seem to be working.
Also, do you know of a good serious rust remover?  I've tried Naval Jelly; it works, but not well enough.

 Thanks.

Answer
Hi Nuri.
The seats on Hondas are usually locked in place.  You will see a keyslot on the left side of the bike right under the edge of the seat.  Unlock that and the seat should come off.  It will need to slide back a small bit to get it of, but it will come off.

Get yourself the repair manual for the bike as well.  It will be worth double it's weight in gold.

Good luck.
