Answer -
Bob, check the pick up coil. The black box or igniter (CDI)(TCI) unit may be defective.

Answer
Bob,

The rectifier converts AC electric produced by the altenator into DC electirc. It may have two plugs.

The central control unit has many names: black box, computer, TCI, CDI, brain, control module, igniter, and others. This parts is difficult to test if not impossible. Some dealers have a testing device to test this component, most do not.
