Motorcycle Repair: Start button, kawasaki vulcan, nuetral

Question
Hi Chris,

How are you? I have a ? about my 1999 Kawasaki Vulcan 800cc Classic? I removed the assembly for the start button for cleaning and i put it back the same way i took it out, but it does not start now. I checked the gear, it is in nuetral and i also checked the on/off button. I am not sure what the problem is? Can you help be out, thanks, bye.

Answer
Hi Andy.
The obvious solution is that somehow, the switch did not get reassembled correctly.

To test it, pull the assembly off the bike and look at it in the mount, so that you can see it actuate and make contact.  I'll bet that something in there is not making contact at all now.

Either that, or there is a broken connection in the switch wires.

Let me kno what you find and we can proceed from there if need be.

Good luck.
