Motorcycle Repair: Motorcycle - Dead, suzuki katana 600, 1999 suzuki katana 600

Question
I have a 1999 Suzuki Katana 600.  I have owned the bike five months.  The bike was fully checked out when I bought it.  It has been over a month since I've last ridden my bike.  I lift the garage door about one foot and start the bike with no problems.  The bike idled naturally for about 40 minutes, than I heard it stall.  After it stalled I noticed no headlights, no taillights, or instrument lights were on.  I turned the ignition off, and back on again and nothing came on.  I removed the main fuse and put it back in, nothing happened.  I have a brand new fully charged battery.  I have a full tank of gas.  The fuel switch is on, and was on while it was idling.  I check the spark plug connections, and still nothing.  What do you think?

Thanks,
David

Answer
Hi David,

Sounds to me as if you had a new battery. All jokes aside, have you check battery voltage since the problem? Put a meter on the terminals and get a reading. Needs to be above 12.6 volts.

We will go from there.
