Motorcycle Repair: yamaha vision, good fire, fuel flow

Question
I have a yamaha vision that I cannot get running. I have good fire, but it seems like its not getting gas.  It has not been ran for 3years, I cleaned the carbs and tank but it back fires like a freak!  I thought it was gonna blow me up. Ive gotton it to turn over a couple times with starting fluid, but not to run.  Im at the end of my knowledge about this. Do you have any ideas?  The previous owner says it has never started real easy, especially on cool days... then on hot days it would have to cool a little after a long ride before it would start again.  Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

Answer
Hi Jeff.
This is clearly a fuel supply problem.  You need to go through the entire fuel system an make sure that fuel is getting into the carbs.  My guess is that there is something in there blocking the fuel flow either in the line or the carbs.

Let me know what you find.
Good luck.
