Motorcycle Repair: speedometer & turnsignals, sportster 883, sitting in the rain

Have a 97 Sportster 883 just got on the road.  It had been sitting in rain & snow for 5 yrs and I traded a Firebird for it.  Rebuilt carb and gloved gas tank and runs good.  The problem now is the speedometer and turn signals don't work (instument panel lights up). Can you give me some idea of what it could be?

Your speedo is electronic. Sitting in the rain probably coroded the connectors somewhere. You ned to remove the plugs going ot them and start tracing the wires and clean as you go. I would get a service manual for your bike so you have a wiring diagram to follow.
