Question
Hi Bill im dave i have an old z250b i have just restored she was going when i pulled it apart but when i put it back to gether i had no sark replaced coils ,points checked everything do you know what it could be

Answer
I had to dig into the online microfiche to find out what this thing had for an ignition system....it only shows the D model in 1980 which has electronic ignition...

If it really still has points, then you need to check them for clean point face surfaces, gap them around .014" and check for power to the point set when the points are open.
IF you crank it and you see a LOT of arcing across the point faces, then the condenser has failed. You should have near battery voltage on the point wire when the points are open. If not then follow the wiring back to the battery source, via the kill switch, then to the ignition switch.

Be sure your point wire isn't grounded somewhere and that the kill switch is either functioning or wired around to eliminate it as a source of problems.

If you repainted the chassis or other parts when you had it apart, you may have bad grounds to the chassis from the motor or other components...
