i have purchased a 2000 zx 900 ninja , 3000 miles . i removed oil filler cap and noticrd a cream , off white watery sludge under cap. is this normal or do i have a problem.
Answer -
Hi Allen,

What you described is water in the oil.

I recommend changing oil and filter immediately, and again not long after to remove residule sludge. Oil is expensive, so are crank bearings.

Try and learn the source of the water. Usually it's a loose oil filler cap, or missing cap o'ring.

Answer
Need to do or have done  a cylinder compression and cylinder leak-down tests, and a cooling system pressure test.

The engine should run with the cap off. May blow some oil droplets about. Is the oil creamy or just the filler lid? How's the collant level? Have you been pressure washing the MC?
