Motorcycle Repair: 1984 CB700S does not start...makes only the KNOCKING SOUND, starter solenoid, sympton

Last summer, my Bike started to Make a KNOCKING sound on the Starter Solenoid, and the Bike would not turn over to start.

I replaced the Starter Solenoid and Starter, and the Bike worked fine for 2 days. (Both days happened to Rain,..and I got soaked riding).

THen, the Bike has the same sympton..
1)  Knocking sound on the Starter Solenoid and starter does not turn over...and Bike won't Start.

Help...

Hi Raj.
 Start by checking the wiring from power to start switch and from start switch to solenoid.  Also from power to solenoid and from solenoid to starter motor.

The description of your problem sounds like you have a wiring problem.  It could be a short or a loose, bad or corroded connection somewhere in the starter circuit.  Use a multimeter to test for shorts.

Start there and let me know what you find.
