My Friend

For quite some time I have been working with the AllExperts site to help you and others with their motorycle questions and problems. Some I have been able to help more than others, but I tried, and took no payment for these services. It has been FUN talking with people from all over the world, and a real PLEASURE for me. For now I will have to take a little vacation and do some other work that is very important to me and you if you live in the U.S.

The time has come where I can no longer ignore what is going on in this country and the world around us. In the past couple of years, things have become VERY personal. Once I could just let politics and events slide by without much note or interest. Times have changed.

My son, Justin, who is serving in the 82d Airborne Division, said it best. He knew he was destined to be part of something much larger than just himself. He has taken the risk and put his life on the line for the people of this country and the rest of the civilized world. I stood the same watch over 30 years ago and thought I had done my part. I accomplished nothing at the time. But events of the twenty first century have drawn me back to a personal involvement. How can I stand idle and watch our civilization go the way of Persia, Athens, Rome, the Aztec, the Maya, and the Inca, when I have the will, desire, the heart, and maybe enough wisdom to find a way to make even the slightest difference.

What I am doing has surprised many people. Most of the people with whom I have consulted have told me that I was crazy, but offered support.  The window of opportunity is small. The chance to make a difference is monumental. The chance of success is unknown. The risks are great. Career, finances, and even personal safety could be at risk, but I am a warrior. I will assume the risk. I owe this to my conscience and my country.

On this happy occasion I am writing to inform you that I will be paying all fees, submitting all paperwork, and jumping through all the hoops necessary to enter my name on the ballot for the Republican nomination as candidate for the United States Senate from North Carolina. Even if you are not a North Carolina resident, the Senate still has an effect on your life. Encouragement and support are needed from everyone, everywhere. If you can remember when this was a free country, or if you would like to see it free again, I am working for you.

It is my intention to confound, confuse and harrass all opponents with a common sense approach to the problems, needs, and desires of the people of North Carolina and of the United States. The one thing I will not do is evade the pressing issues of our time. Nor will I engage in the PETTY PARTISAN POLITICS that cause most candidates to oppose a solution or action just because someone else thought of it first.

I look forward to hearing from you and welcome questions, comments, poison pen letters, or whatever suggestions you might have to help me succeed in this enterprise and help make our lives and this nation a little bet better.
