Motorcycle Repair: Bike Problem, kawasaki zx 6, bike chain

Question
I have had my bike for about two years now.  It is a Kawasaki ZX-6 1995 model.  My question is:  How do I fix my bike chain because somehow or another it is too long to fit around the gears.  I don't see how it is possible for my chain to fit perfectly around at one point in time and all of a sudden it has stretched of somesort.  Do I have to replace the chain, can I take a link out, or is there a way too shorten the length again.  Please let me know the answer to my dilemma.

Answer
Hi David, sorry for the delay I've been working away. 1st it really isn't advisable to shorten these chains, also it is highly unlikely that it has just 'stretched' overnight, more likely is that the eccentric adjusters in the rear wheel have slipped and moved the whole wheel closer to the front of the machine, check the chain adjusters first, if they're OK then it's a new chain I'm afraid!
