Nissan Repair: 03 Xterra

Question
Hello...I have a 2003 XTerra and #5 and #6 plugs are covered in oil, compression is good, runs a little rough, like on 4 or 5 cylinders. A friend says it may need a head gasket ?

Answer
Hi Geoof -

If compression is good, then it is not the head gasket.

First thing I would replace is the valve stem oil seals for the 5 and 6 cylinders. They are probably bleeding in engine oil. Typical if the engine smokes a lot while first starting after a period of sitting.

Hope this helps -
