Nissan Repair: 89 nissan

Question
i have a 89 nissa with the z motor in it i have only owned it for 2 days but it started with a rouugh idle & when u try to accelerate with some speed it would buck & jump now its blowing white smoke out of exhaust & it still has converter on it. could it be the converter stopped up & building pressure up in motor??

Hello -

White smoke is usually steam, especially is it dissipates rapidly. Try this test -

With the engine off and cold, fill the radiator to the top and leave the cap off. Start the car and see if the water spurts out of the radiator like a geyser. If so, the head gasket is blown and you need to take it back for refund, as this is a big job, probably 1500 to 2000 dollars.
