Nissan serena 2003 is swithing off when temperature gauge reaches half.What might be the problem?

Can you tell me if the check engine light is on?

If so, I will need the OBD code it displays, then I can tell you the next step.

If the light is not on, then I would replace the ignition module located in the distributor.
