Nissan Repair: 2000 Altima GXE/Shifter Lamp, altima gxe, shift indicator

Question
The bulb for the shift indicator(P/R/MN/D) has burnt out. Can this bulb be accessed easily for replacement. I did see some info that says you have to remove the entire console. That does seem like a major operation for a bulb.

Hi Rob -

Yes, to access this bulb, you will have to remove the surrounding plastic housing around the shifter. Start by removing the main console. Screws should be on the side, and you will need to move the seat forward and backward to access all the screws.

Then you will see the plate attaching the (PRNDL) plate to the shifter. Remove that, follow the wire, and you will find the bulb.
