Nissan Repair: replaced timing now now pulling a code, nissan xterra, timing belt

Question
i replaced the timing belt but now my 2001 nissan xterra with the 3.3 4wd wont start and it pulls a p0300 code. what could cause this?

Answer
Hi Stacy -

P0300 is random misfire. First thing I would do is check the wires, coils and plugs. Perhaps they got damaged or fouled during the repair.
If the engine is running smoothly and not missing, then I would erase the code and see if it returns. Could be just a nuisance code.
Also, double check the timing mark alignment as well.

Hope this helps -
