Nissan Repair: anti freeze, nissan altima, dilution ratio

Dear Calvin
we have an nissan altima 4cl.2005,we have 80,000 on ot right now,how often should we change the anti freeze and does it need it now,we live in bucks county pa,right outside phila.i couldnt find any answer in the manual

Hi Patrick -

I usually recommend replacing coolant once a year, especially in areas where there are severe temperature changes through the seasons.

That said, I would change it now (don't forget to flush it out and replace the thermostat while your at it). Follow the instructions on the dilution ratio on the label. I usually recommend a 50/50 blend of coolant and water.

Too strong of a mixture will leave deposits in your radiator.
