Nissan Repair: General upkeep, nissian cars, repair question

Question
Thanks for your time. I really don't have a very in dept repair question for you. To be honest I'm not a car savy guy. But I chose you becasue you were the only person under nissian cars and I know with your working knowledge of repairs you would know how not to tear a car up or let it get into such bad shape. My qeustion is how often do you change your car fluids. I have a nissian sentra 2004. I just wanted to know how often to change things like transmission fluid, fuel filter, maybe the most important things to up keep. I just always knew to change to oil and oil filter and keep the air filter clean. But like I said I am not very car savy. But since you know how to fix car, you would be the best one to ask on how to keep them from tearing up.

Answer
Hi Josh -

I don't know how many miles you have on your vehicle or if you are the original owner, however here are a few things -

Engine oil and filter every 6 months
Depending on driving conditions air filter check or replace every 6 months
Replace transmission oil and filter every 15000 miles
Flush cooling system replace antifreeze every 12 months
Rotate tires every 12 months
Replace timing belt every 60,000 miles
Replace spark plugs/tune up every 15,000 miles
Replace fuel filter every 60,000 miles
Check/replace brake pads as needed every 5,000 miles

Hope this helps -
aloha
