Nissan Repair: nissan mistral, heater hoses, temp gauge

Question
hi there,i have a 1996 nissan mistral diesel and it is leaking out water through the heater inside the the truck, what could this be? i have flushed the radiatar out put stop leak in it and also coolant, checked the heater hose, someone suggested to block the heater hose off but i am not sure! the temp gauge doesnt go up but when you open the radiatar cap the water is bubbling, can you please help me? regards raewyn

Answer
Hi Raewyn

Typically when there is coolant coming out inside the car, especially passenger side, it is the heater core. If you use the heater in the vehicle, you should replace it. Part of the duct work system will have to be removed to get to the core. It looks like a small radiator within the system.

The other option is to remove the heater hoses, and replace with heater plugs. This will disable the heater core, and coolant will no longer go through it. This is a inexpensive option, but remember you will not get heating capacity in your cab.

Hope this helps -
