Nissan Repair: Dirt in wing, nissan micra, pressure washer

I have a Nissan Micra 1.3 five door and the rear of the front wings seem to gather loads of dirt (at the bottom just behind the wheels) which gets water in and then rusts. I noticed this a couple of years after getting the car. Is there a recommended way of removing the muck? I've used things like pencils to dig it out and then tried squirting water into it, but there's still muck in there. It's really tricky to get at.

Hi Caroline -

There are a couple ways I can think of that might help:

1. Do you have access to a pressure washer? Uses water pressure plus a motor to shoot a strong jet of water. Cleans anything, but do not use it on painted surfaces.

2. Take the wings apart and clean them

3. Build a shield so that it protects from getting muck into the crevices.
