Nissan Repair: 1994 Nissan D21, defective alternator, fuse box

Question
My Nissan instrument cluster charging and brake light is on all the time. Notice that care is not charging. I would like to know if any fuse location for the charging system in this model. I located the fuse box under the dash, no fuse for charging system in the box. You help in this matter would greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Hector

Answer
Hi Hector -

There is no fuse for the "charging system", however there is a fuse for the alternator power, should be located in the engine compartment in a black box on the fender well. It is located among other large circuit fuses and relays. However, if this fuse was blown, then most of your electrical items won't work. Usually the charge and brake light being on is a defective alternator.

I would first check the charging capacity of the alternator. You will need a voltage multimeter and check if the voltage of the battery is at 14V, engine revving with head lights on.

Anything less than that replace the alternator.

Hope this helps -
