Nissan Repair: Nissan pickup clutch/transmission, hydraulic clutch, clutch disc

Question
2 weeks ago I had the clutch replaced in my 1994 nissan pickup. When I picked up the truck, I noticed that the clutch engaged very low, almost at the floorboard. I went back to the shop and was told that there was no adjustment for hydraulic clutch, to drive it to see if I became more accustomed to it. About a week later, I started the truck and heard a strange noise, "grounding, rubbing, growling." This noise occurred when the clutch was depressed but when I let off the clutch, it stopped. What it the likely cause?

Answer
Hi Robbie -

That noise is probably the throw out bearing for the clutch. There are 3 main components for the clutch - Disc, pressure plate, and bearing. Would you know if they replaced them all?

I would take the car back and have them check the bearing. I am thinking it is not seated properly, which would definitely cause both the noise, and the off engagement. Whether or not the bearing was replaced, it would have to be removed and replaced to get to the clutch, so perhaps when it was put back together, it became mis-aligned

Hope this helps -
aloha
