Nissan Repair: Start up, 2007 nissan titan, nissan titan

Question
For the last week when I crank my truck up for the first few seconds blue smoke will appear. What are some possible causes and how urgent is it that I have it checked by a mechanic?
My truck is a 2007 Nissan Titan 5.6L v-8.
Thanks,
Leon

Answer
Hi Leon -

Blue smoke means burning oil. If it happens only after the car sits awhile, then I would check the valve seals.

Another alternative is to try an additive called AT205. This is designed to rejuvenate seals and perhaps stop the oil from entering the cylinders and burn through the exhaust.

Hope this helps -
