1993 Nissan Sentra

I just received a quote for rear drum with pad replacement at $500+. I was hoping this work would only be approximately $200. Am I getting scammed? Is it because they are replacing the drums and not just the pads? Thanks for your help!!!

Hi Todd -

I would really need more information on what parts and labor is in addition to the drums and pads. If it is only the pads and drums, then the price is high.

However if they are replacing the hardware (springs), skimming the drums, bleeding or servicing the wheel cylinders, it could get close to the 500.

May I ask why the drums are being replaced? Normally that would not be necessary unless the pads wore down to the metal and ate into the drum.
