Nissan Repair: 1994 nissan primera p10 1838, fuel pump relay, gauge wire

Question
hi my 1994 nissan primera is turning over but it wont start, its sparking fine so i checked and there is no fuel getting in, so i believe it must be a fuel pump or fuel pump relay problem, it is an old car so i was just wondering the location of the fuel pump (in the tank, under the hood etc) and where the relays are and how to test them, thanks

Answer
Your are correct. It is the fuel pump system. The fuel pump in US models is located inside the fuel tank with easy access from the top and the relay is located in the relay block under the hood in the engine compartment. Locate the electrical wiring of the fuel pump by the pump's location. There should be 2 or 3 wires. The power wire, (12V), the fuel gauge wire and a ground wire. With someone helping you, connect a test light to the 12V wire and then ask your helper to turn the ignition key to ON position without starting the motor. The test light should come on for 2 seconds and then shut of again. Now ask them to crank the motor. The light should stay on. If this test is positive, then the fuel pump had failed. If there is no power as described above, then the fuel pump relay or fuel pump wiring had failed.
