Nissan Repair: 95 Nissan Maxima Coolant Sensor, nissan maxima, exact code

My Maxima has about 136,200 miles on it and it's never had any issues. Until about a week or two ago it sounded weird while driving at lower speeds like as if there was an air leak somewhere. So just a couple days ago I was driving and all of a sudden the car died and wouldn't start. After about 45mins the car started back up but the check engine light was on. I then took it to a mechanic and had it ran it said that the Coolant Sensor wasn't working but the mechanic didn't seem to confident when I asked if that may have caused the car to shut down. What do you think?

OK, we need to take this from the beginning. I will need to know what the exact code was for the check engine light. If you take it to an autozone, they are pretty accurate.

Also, is the car running fine now, or same issues, and is the engine light still on?
