Nissan Repair: 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5S special edition, 2006 nissan altima, nissan altima

Question
I recently bought a used Nissan Altima with 74895 miles.  This is my first purchase and being a girl, I wasn't sure what I needed to ask about car.  The carfax is clean however, it has been acting strange.  Sometimes I'll start the car and it won't start, it cranks but won't start, then I'll bring the key back to the start position and start it again..and it will finally start.  Do you know what might be causing this?  Also, should I be concerned with the timing chain and transmission with the miles.  I would like to take it back to the dealership and ask them to check the car out, but what else should I ask them to check.  I appreciate the help!

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Grace -

When you are having trouble starting, is the engine cold or warm? Or does it matter?
If you car is automatic, I would not worry about the timing belt, should be fine til 100,000 miles. I would change the transmission oil though.

When you take it to the dealership, please don't tell them to check everything, as you will get a fat bill. I would take it to e reputable mechanic first and get an opinion that way. Things to check are CV boots, brakes, cooling system (hoses included), drive belts, steering linkage, and perhaps suspension items.

Hope this helps -
