Nissan Repair: 1992 Nissan D21 Hardbody, nissan d21, windshield wipers

Question
I am getting just enough power to barely run the windshield wipers.  No lights of any kind and the motor will not even attempt to turn over. I had the altenator tested and it is good. I put a brand new battery in it also.  The guy at the parts store suggested I have the voltage regulator tested but I need to know where it is located.  Can you tell me how to find the voltage regulator on this truck and do you have any suggestions to solve my problem?

Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Charles -

I can think of a couple things. First check all connections at the battery. Ensure there is no corrosion and connections are clean and tight, esp the positive cable as it may have multiple connections.

Turn on the headlights and try starting the car. If the lamps all of a sudden go off or very dim, you have a defective battery.

As for the regulator, it is an internal unit in the alternator.

Hope this helps -
