Nissan Repair: mitsubishi heater core, heater cores, heater core

Question
QUESTION: im looking for step by step instructions on replacing a heater on a 2002 montero. and can i by pass the heater core or will car run hot.  where do i start to replace the heater core

ANSWER: Hi Michael -

You can do both. I just need to know what you want to do and I will instruct. Bypassing will not cause the engine to overheat, but obviously you will not have heating capabilities.

Let me know -

QUESTION: im going to replace the heater core can you give the how to on that

Answer
Hi Michael -

The core is accessed from inside the vehicle passenger side, below the dash. Sometimes removal of the glove box is necessary. You will have to also remove the duct work below the glove box area and then you will see the core inside. It is relatively small, perhaps about a foot long, looks like a mini radiator. Ensure you protect your carpet cause when you remove this core, the fluid inside is usually filled with rust, which will stain badly.

I normally repair Nissans, so I cannot give you finite instructions, but heater cores are fairly general when it comes to replacement.

Hope this helps -
