Can my 1993 Maxima be plugged into a laptop for tuning purposes? If I take it to a shop what would a tune-up include?

Tune ups for that model usually include spark plugs, cap and rotor. There are not many adjustments that can be done to the car as everything is computer controlled, so don't let them fool you into doing all the bells and whistles.

Anyway, the computers used to download codes, are for diagnostic purposes, and will only do so if the engine light is flashing, so you really can use them to fine tune.
