Nissan Repair: 1998nissan pathfinder, nissan dealership, emission test

the service engine light is on. i have had the nissan dealership service it for this problem. they smoked the system,replaced evap canister,gas cap,some modular to the tune of $600 and the light is still on.they can't seem to find the problem.i need to get the problem corrected so that i can pass the emission test and reregister my car.

Hi Diane -

I am hoping the dealership did an OBD test to retrieve the code? When the engine light comes on, it could be one or more sensors that report to the car's computer. The sensor report through a code system and the OBD (On Board Diagnosis) will download that number and then the exact problem can be determined.

If you get that code for me, I can tell you what it means.
