Nissan Repair: water pump 1997 nissan pickup, negative battery cable, radiator hoses

Hi, how do i change the water pump on my 1997 nissan pickup with a 2400 engine? It has a manual transmission.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
      
  2. Drain the cooling system.
      
  3. Remove the or disconnect the following:

     Negative battery cable
      
     Accessory drive belts
      
     Radiator hoses
      
     Cooling fan and shroud
      
     Water pump pulley
      
     Front cover
      
     Timing belt. Refer to the Timing Belt removal procedure.
      
     Water pump
      

      


To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

     Water pump. Tighten the bolts to 12-15 ft. lbs. (16-21 Nm).
      
     Timing belt
      
     Front cover
      
     Water pump pulley
      
     Cooling fan and shroud
      
     Radiator hoses
      
     Accessory drive belts
      
     Negative battery cable
      

      
  2. Fill the cooling system.
      
  3. Start the engine and check for leaks.
