Nissan Repair: 1991 nissan, head gasket, white smoke

Question
i have a 1991 stanza, nissan which didnt have anti freeze, but did have water and the temp is 20 which caused the water to froze and when i turned on the car white smoke started coming out.. is the car messed up?? what should i do??

Answer
Hi Silvia -

Depends how long you ran it before the white smoke started coming out? If you just started it and turned it off right away after seeing the smoke, then you should be OK. Otherwise the head gasket may be blown.

Have you tried thawing out the radiator water and starting it again?

Let me know -
