Nissan Repair: Acceleration jerk, factory specs, jerk

Question
Hi, I've been noticing ever since i had my distributor fixed that it takes much work and a much longer time to reach top speeds on the highway( safe driving speeds) i also noticed that if my car was driving at say 45 miles / hour and i was approaching a speed area of 65 mph on the high way and i tried to give more gas power it would slow down and then jerk  and then start picking up( powering up) which is unusual. in most cases i notice i use up more fuel.
Thanks
Joel

Answer
Hi Joel -

This really sounds like the distributor is not properly tuned. Because you are experiencing no power problems, I would think that the timing for the car is retarded.

First step is to check the timing and ensure it is set to factory specs.

Secondly, check the distributor to see if it is automatically advancing when accelerating.

This should be done by the company that worked on the distributor, since it is obvious that the repair was not 100% successful.

Hope this helps -
