my lift gate will not open automatically on my 2005 Nissan quest but it will open by hand. I forced it shut one day to close it due to thing in the back and would not shut automatically ever since then the gate will not shut or open automatically only by hand.

The limit switch is out of adjustment.  

This is going to have to be readjusted.  

A locksmith or your local Nissan dealer will be able to do this.

If you want to do it yourself get a manual to remove the panels and check the adjustments.
