how do I replace the two drive belts on a 1999 Nissan altima

Hi David -

Drive belt are loosened by bolts on idler pulleys. There is a center bolt, and another on the side. You do not have to remve them, just loosen and the idler should move to loosen the belt enough to remove. I think you will need a 14mm, 12mm, and maybe a 10mm socket and wrench.

Remove the belts one at a time, noticing which component it drives, and compare the new belts that it is the same size. When adjusting a new belt there should be no more than one inch of play.
