Nissan Repair: 2000 Sentra GXE 1440 code, nissan cars, vent valve

Question
Thanks for taking the time.
My daughter has my old 2000 1.4 Sentra with 196,000 miles on it and like new yet! the service engine light came on and we instaled a new evap vent valve and evap solinoid which are in rear drivers side near trunk. light still comes on after putting on 300 + miles and says its a small evap leak yet? We also replaced the gas filler cap. Any suggestions as this is getting costly.. Still get 40 MPG out of this great car!! I LOVE NISSAN's

Answer
Michael,

Either you have a loose or cracked hose on the evaporative system.  Nissan had issues with hose vendors from 2000 through 2003.  It is out of warranty now so it is a matter of getting the car on a lift and looking from the gas tank to the engine and finding the small leak.  A hose that is perforated will cause this too.  The hoses tend to rot close to the exhaust system.  I love Nissan cars too.
