Nissan Repair: 02 maxima immobilizer system, immobilizer system, cranked 2

car has had to be cranked 2-3 times lately,now no start,spins only,noticed security light solid after key cycled on,codes p1610,p1612 run diag for immobilizer all good up to checking with scope for key on signal from ecm,no scope,seems that immobilizer needs to be replaced,any other ways to check or reset

Try locking and unlocking the door, from the outside, with the key.  If this does not work check to see if you have another Nissan key on the ring that would mess with the computer interrogation of your key.  If that is not the issue you will need to take the car to a shop that has a Consult II scanner.  The key will either have to be reprogrammed or the Body Control Module (BCM) might be defective.  The Consult II will show for sure...
