Nissan Repair: 88 Nissan d-21, coils, 4x4

QUESTION: I have an 88 d-21 4x4 and i parked it and was working on it and left the key on  without running for about 45 minutes and after charging the battery back up i cant get any spark from it and it wont start?

ANSWER: Hi Collin -

The coil probably burned out. Might want to check that out. Also could be the ignition module.

QUESTION: It has ignition and exhaust coil and they were just replaced about two weeks before this happened? The ignition module, would that allow it to turn over and everything and just not let it start?

Hi Colin -

yes, the ignition module will not allow the car to start, but will crank without spark.

reason i say both the coil and the module is because when the ignition is on, power is supplied to both units, and it gets very hot, prone to failure. Even if the coils are new, you should have them checked for output.
