Nissan Repair: Almera 1999 windscreen washer inoperative., washer motor, probe type

Question
Hi Calvin, I have checked fuses and all I can without dismantling. Now I want to access the washer pump to check the motor but no manual I could find explains how to get to it. I can't get the car off the road so I need to do any repairs in one session and I need to know exactly how to proceed before beginning.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can give.

Answer
Hi John  -

We don't have Almeras here in Hawaii, but I assume it is the same.

When you turn the washer on, do you hear a noise? If so, then it could be just clogged lines, which is cleared by inserting a small wire through the jets. If there is no noise, then you have to get to the motor.

The washer motor is in the washer tank reservoir, usually located in the front of the engine compartment near the radiator. usually it is held by one or two 10mm bolts, and once removed, it slides out (be careful, wires will be connected to it).

From there you can check the terminal of the motor for power. Have someone activate the motor, and if you have power at the motor (use a 12V test lamp, probe type), then replace the motor.

Hope thia helps -
