Nissan Repair: Nissan Almera Tino Rear Locking Cable, nissan almera tino, fuse blows

Question
We have an 05 almera tino, the cable that links the boot door handle to the lock keeps fusing solid and blowing the fuse to the rear lights. The wiring on the inside of the door appears fine, could the problem be coming from under the lock? It looks to be an earthing problem possibly with the rear lights, causing a short throgh the lock cable. Have you heard of this happening before? Any advice would be a great help.

Answer
Tom,

Corrosion is an issue especially with earth contact points.  I would disassemble, clean and lubricate.  Redundant earthing is another possibility.  If the lock jams it will overload the circuit and if that happens the fuse blows and you have no power for the rear lights.  If you use only the key for the boot the problem does not occur?  That would lead me to the overloaded circuit and not an earthing problem.
