Nissan Repair: 2005 Nissan Altima, nissan altima, collision specialist

Question
I was recently in an accident and I am wondering if there might be frame damage. A lady rear ended me, I was completely stopped and she was going between 20 and 30 miles per hour. I went to a collision specialist and they said that my back panel located behind the bumper is pushed in about and inch and a half. So it is making my trunk not work at all. So first question is do you think there is frame damage and second how much do you think it will cost for repairs?

Answer
Hi Rhiannon -

Collisions around that speed don't usually bend the frame, so you should be OK with that one.

As for the damage estimate, It is really hard to tell. If you need both quarter panels repaired, or just one, extent of damage to the trunk components, bumper and bumper guard, body finishing work all play a factor in the final amount.

I assume since it is not your fault, you will be going through insurance? Your deductible should be way less than the cost of repair, which will probably be in the 2 thousand area. That is just a ball park -

Hope this helps
