Nissan Repair: why rev limiter at 2,500 rpms, volt ohm meter, programming issue

Question
Ineed help with my 94 nissan d21 pick up.it hits rev limiter at 2,500 and its suppost to be at 6 how do I fix this problem

Answer
Bobby,

I do not know if you have a RPM limit problem or not.  It could be some other cause if you have not verified that the coil power is being cut by the computer (ECM).  I would check, with a digital volt/ohm meter to see if the power to the coil is actually being cut by the ECM.  If this is the case it is a programming issue and that would be an issue with the ECM.  Other causes would be a defective air meter cutting off signal or even a plugged converter preventing a higher RPM.
