Nissan Repair: 08 Nissan Altima Coupe 3.5SE starting problem, nissan altima coupe, nissan altima

Last year, this same time of year, my 08 Altima Coupe had starting problems.  It would sometimes sound like it was trying to turn over, sometimes just make one "click" noise, sometimes make clicking sounds for about 5 seconds.  It was under warranty and Nissan replaced something called an IPDM? (not exactly sure)  It is doing the same thing again, and now its not under warranty.  It doesn't seem to be a battery problem because sometimes it will start after several attempts without a jump.  Thank you for your help.

Hi Casey -

Looks like it is the starter.

Try this test. Next time it does not start take a small hammer or similar device and tap the starter several times on the housing. If the car starts, then you will need to replace the starter. Tapping the starter sometimes loosens the carbon build up on the brushes.
