Nissan Repair: PCV VALVE, nissan maxima se, air control valve

Where is the PCV valve located on a 2000 nissan maxima se. Is this something one can do or does it have to be done at the shop. What are some sympthons of a bad pcv valve. Could this mess with your idle?

It is located on the valve cover and is connected to the intake by a length of vacuum hose.  But, to answer your question, I would say the problem is a dirty throttle body or a defective idle air control valve.  That would mess with the idle.  I have a 2000 Maxima SE and it still has the original PCV with 154K miles...  You could replace it yourself.  Autozone has a great site with pictures and they sell the PCV too.
