Nissan Repair: nissan almera, mass airflow sensor, nissan almera

Question
Sir I have a 2004 Nissan Almera 1600 I had this car serviced by our local garage as there is not a Nissan dealer nearer than a 100 km from here I bought this car as a demo model.

The problem is that this car does not have power and sometimes it is of like a rocket. When I reach certain speed it seems that this vehicle struggles to get power. The off it goes again like nothing is wrong. Please help me to rectify this issue and what is the size of this vehicle petrol tank . Currently this vehicle assumption is about 14 km lit Pleas help

Answer
Johann,

I would be looking to see if there are any codes.  From what you say you probably have a mass airflow sensor going out or a connection that is loose.  You really need a code reader to see what the computer is registering.  The low fuel economy is a dead give away that a sensor is out of specification.  The car will usually retard the timing and richen the mixture to protect the engine until the error is corrected.  If your local shop has a code reader you are in business.  If not you may purchase a generic OBDII reader on-line from many a different shop.  CHeck it out and email me back.
