Question
hi i have a 1999 nissan maxima se limited and think i need a starter...went to carnk it and all i get is click click click...the battery is charged..does a starter make that clicking sound if its shot...how do i reapir it if it needs one... i can see it is it hard to ge to... thank you

Answer
Bob,

If the battery is fully charged and you get a click at the starter means the starter is in need of replacement.  Pull the air box and battery and you can see the starter, from above.  You do not even have to get under the car.  Also, get a Haynes Book for all the steps to change it.  But, there are only two bolts, the battery wire and a small start wire.  With the air filter box and intake hose out of the way you will see the starter.  I remove the battery for more room and it has to be disconnected anyway...
